Weekend in Williamsburg

Nick and I spent the weekend in Williamsburg! It was a bit drizzly on Sunday morning, but we had an awesome time learning about our heritage!

The Colonial Capitol Bed and Breakfast.

Nick was recruited for the cause!

With a personal hero: Thomas Jefferson.

In the stocks!

Underneath an old tree. Courthouse in the background.

The maze an the Governor's palace garden.

Trapped in the labyrinth. Where's David Bowie??

I hope David Bowie was nowhere NEAR that particular labyrinth. Or any other labyrinth for that matter, that movie gives me the creeps!

You didn't like labyrinth? A young Jennifer Garner and David Bowie in spandex? :P

We went this past weekend because we both had time to take a 3-day weekend- and next weekend is Easter, so that would not have worked out. When we reserved our rooms we didn't realize Uncle Steve and Aunt Cindy were going as well. Was that a birthday celebration?

We did have some awesome colonial food- Nick had a glazed duck and I had a game meat "pye." Then for dessert I had "syllabub" which is a type of whipped cream made with white wine and served with berries. We bought a few mixes so we can make it for ourselves too. :)

Linda and Nick, did you get my phone message about Easter dinner at our house on Saturday? Around 1:00.

I second the creepy movie motion! It looks like you two had a lot of fun. I'm not so sure about the meat "pye" though...
