Are the Joneses joining the NRA?

So Nick and I were originally going to join Kim and Ian at the gun range when they went a few weeks ago, but Nick needed a new car so we could not attend. But that didn't stop us from going to the gun range on Friday with some grad school friends!

I had never shot a handgun before (or an Uzi, for that matter), but I can now proudly say I can protect myself if necessary. And apparently I have Ian and Dad's knack for marksmanship. :) I have been declared the protector of the psychology department.

Back to school, back to school

Well it's that time again.
Everybody have a great Monday!

I drove - for real!

Yes, after 10 weeks of having to be driven around and waiting for people to pick me up, I drove to my physical therapy appointment. The foot was a little sore and felt funny in a shoe instead of the boot cast, but the feeling of freedom made up for the discomfort.
Monday I'm getting a shot in my back, some kind of nerve block, to help get rid of the pain in the foot and ankle. Hopefully that will help and I will soon be walking normally, instead of with a walker or rolling around in the wheelchair.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers - they have been answered!

Amazing Rick Nash Goal (1-17-08)

If any of you did not see Sportscenter today, Barry Melrose came on to admit that this is the greatest NHL goal in TWO YEARS. Keep in mind, this was on the road in Phoenix, with only 22 seconds ago, and the game is tied at 3-3. Our fourth win in a row! If Colorado loses tonight and we win tomorrow, we are officially in the top 8 of the Western Conference and back in "the playoff hunt."

For the record, I had ESPN on at work today and watched this replay about 35 times.

Snow and a new car

I guess we finally got the snow we Marylanders have been waiting for! Here in Catonsville we had about 3-4 inches of accumulation. And, amidst it all, Nick got a new car! Last Thursday the transmission in his old Mercury Mystique went out, so we decided it was time to move on. Most of my afternoon patients cancelled today due to the weather, so Nick and I took advantage of the extra time to make a visit to the bank and the dealer. So there it is, a 2005 Scion TC. And thanks to Nick's excellent credit history, he managed to get away with only a 6.5% interest rate. :)

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weather!

Press Conference

If anyone saw the press conference today at UMBC with O'Malley- I was there! Talk about backslapping!

Apparently Maryland now has a dedicated Higher Education Fund. All the pols indicate this is unprecedented, so I guess, good for us!

a day at the gun range yo!

So Kim, Coco, their friend Fogle, and myself decided to go to a gun range in Bel Air. We had a sweet time, and shot a .44 magnum, 9mm, and .45. It was pretty beast. And I put a pic of my new bass for sean.

The Sump Pump

Anybody here know how to repair or replace a sump pump? We're not flooded or in danger, but it's definitely not pumping water anymore. It tries to pump water, then stops right away. After it did that for awhile (apparently in the middle of the night) it blew the circuit breaker and now when we plug it in...it blows the circuit breaker.

Bring it on Uncle Carl/Bob/Steve/Michael C./Nick. Call me.

Reflect's 2nd Show

We had a show on New Year's Day get cancelled, but the one on Wednesday night went through without a hitch. We played a basement show at a popular spot that is on campus. Here's Rob our singer with Chuck the bassist in the background, and then a pretty good shot of yours truly. Mom, this time I wore two sets of ear plugs, one set on the inside and the red ones you see there on the outside.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Pittsburgh

I have reserved a block of 10 rooms (6 w/king size beds, 4 w/2 double beds) at the Hampton Inn, Monroeville, PA., at a rate of $109.oo per night, plus tax, for four nights beginning Thursday, July 24th. The reservation is under the name "Jones Family Reunion".

I have requested adjoining rooms. The hotel has a pool and a "fitness center". There are no refrigerators in the rooms; coolers will be needed. There is a continental breakfast available each day. I assume that the "king" rooms will be reserved by: Randi and I, Bob and Robin, Carl and Donna, Steve and Cindy, Sean and Liz and Nick and Linda. I also assume that the "doubles" will be used by a combination of the rest of the gang. The hotel asks that you contact them at 1-412-380-4000 to reserve your rooms. I have reserved a "king" room for Randi and I and another room for Erin and the "ladies" that she will be bunking with.

This hotel is about 11 miles from Pittsburgh and Kennywood and I believe that it is off of the Pa. Turnpike. The lady at the hotel that I spoke to has a contact at Kennywood and will be checking on group rate tickets for either Friday or Saturday. (On a side note Robin has advised that Kennywood offers both group discounts for groups of 20 or more and also a discount for those of us who will be 55 and older by July-SORRY Donna).

The Pirates play throughout the weekend and we can discuss that once tickets go on sale.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello and Happy New Year

Hi to everyone.
Hope you all had a safe new year celebration.
It was a quiet one on Shad Court. Just Aunt Robin and I watching a movie ( the Illusionist - highly recommended) and looking in on Times Square.
Mike, please see the comments I left about Pittsburgh.
Talk to you all soon.
Bob

Happy New year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!

I hope everyone had a safe & awesome evening!

What were everyone's plans?

Me, I wasn't feeling well last night so I stayed in with a couple of bottles of wine, season 7 of The West Wing, & a dinner of pasta & veggies (I'm so healthy!). I also got to enjoy the LOVELY (note sarcasm) fireworks my neighbors just decided they had to set off....

Anyway, I'm at work for the day & as you can see (since I'm posting) we're REALLY busy....

Love & miss you all!
