Election Day

Happy Election Day!

I waited at the polls for 1.5 hours this morning before heading into DC for work, but it was worth the wait! You could just feel the excitement. I only wish Nick and I were registered in the same district so we could have voted together.

No matter who you're voting for, this is a great day to be an American! I have no doubt that if (when?) I have children, I will tell them about my experiences today.

How long did all of you wait at the polls?

I would say all told Liz and I waited about 45 minutes around 8:15 this morning. The line was shorter as we were leaving. We met some of our neighbors from the alley behind us and I chatted with one of the "regulars" from my rec. center volleyball outings.

Fortunately voting is just a blip on my "weekend." Had yesterday and today off so we've put insulation in our attic, adjusted the ductwork, raked the yard, got the haircut and listened to the Jackets get beat in OT by the worst team in the Eastern Conference.

I got to my polling place at 6:15 & was in my car heading to work at 7:00, so it wasn't bad. I walked out the door & the line was HUGE though.... cars were parking in the grass & on the side of the road waiting. The excitement is INTENSE here... it's going to be a long night & I'm really glad I took tomorrow off; I plan on being up until it's over!!!!

All total from in the door out - 15 min. I got to the polls at 6:25 before they opened at 6:30.

Mr. and Mrs. HGTV! I figured you weren't a happy camper when I heard the Jackets score this morning.....how 'bout them Bengals, tho?!

I voted at 1:30 and was in and out in less than 4 minutes. I was so excited, I went home and took a nap.

Well, I didn't wait at all because I had an absentee ballot, so I don't know what wait you guys are talking about.

That's my daughter! Carl and I went after work - start to finish 5 minutes! The line for last names A-B was the shortest. I hope I voted for the right person?!

I got to the polls at 6:40 AM and was out by 7:35. I had a nice conversation with a woman ahead of me and found out she works with Cindy and her brother-in-law was one of Ian's bosses this summer!!! Talk about a small world!! Then I was off to work for another full day of school. I haven't had a dayoff since Labor Day and I won't have one until Turkey Day. Yikes!

I did talk to some parents at school who voted during the day and waited for 2 1/2 hours. Of course this was in Baltimore City. I saw lines on my drive to school that wrapped around parking lots and people parking on the grass at some of the polls. It was the busiest election I have ever seen, and I'm a senior citizen now!

Bob says,
I went to the polls with Kim and she voted for the first time.
That's a thrill.
I an and his friend Shea also went and voted.
The whole family is into it now !
I do think that unlike Linda, I will sleep fine tonight.
