That irritates me more than you know.... that the band accepted the invitation.... they've got more than enough bands playing & regardless of what is said, the acceptance feels like they're supporting him....

But a friend & I had a great idea.... we're going to come up there with signs that say "We're here to support the band, not your campaign."

Ok, not really.... but it's a nice thought! Enough of my soapbox

No...we can't decline when other schools' bands accepted. It's not about supporting, it's a one-in-a-time experience,, altho I doubt that they'll see much of McCain.

Regardless of who the candidate is, I think it is exciting for your band. Those kids will always remember it. And Randi, take the day off!!

Didn't take the day off...it's been one-of-those-weeks...Red Ribbon Week actually with a theme every day, plus we had an assembly today. I did turn the TV on because CNN did televise part of the rally.
I'll see some of the band members tomorrow. I know they left school this morning at 6:30.

I talked to Andy Newberry Thursday night (the best man in our wedding for those of you out east). His mom worked "security" for the rally! Ha!

McCain shaking hands with students from the Defiance High School band was the front page photo in the Wall Street Journal yesterday. Oh, and Mike Saxton (father of an Eagle Scout in Andy's troop) was interviewed by the UK's Guardian newspaper. What a day for Defiance, Ohio.
