I just received word that I have been accepted into the Tiny Canary Indie Design Market for this year. Tiny Canary is an art & crafts event thrown in November as a place for people to purchase handmade gift items for the upcoming holidays. This event drew thousands of people over the course of two days last year and I'm hoping this year will be even better (as it is the 2nd year for the show). I have a lot of work ahead of me to get ready in time, but I'm super excited!

Junctionview Studios is in Grandview (a tiny town that was sort of swallowed by Columbus as the city grew). It's to the northwest of downtown. I applied to the show a couple of weeks ago. They ask for photos of your work and then choose the 40 vendors for the show based on the photos. I didn't expect to get in at all. My stuff is usually more "cute" than the products found at these sorts of events, but this time that difference worked in my favor. Now to get busy!
Congratulations Liz! Do you have to make huge quantities of things to sell, or just samples for people to place orders?

Thanks for all of your encouragement, everybody! I'm taking both large quantities and a sample book. I probably won't take orders at the show, as it is expected to be really busy, but I will take appointments for anyone interested in a custom order. My goal is to take somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 cards, 25 sets of bookplates, 50 sets of gift tags, 100 assorted sets of boxed stationery, 50 gift card holders, and a few other items. Lots of work, but it should be really fun and really great exposure.

Sean keeps me company while I color tiny images on gift tags. Uncle Dave pretty much stays out of my way. I made 7 sets of gift tags (10 tags per set; hand stamped and water-colored) and mailed an Etsy order today, so I've been busy, busy, busy.
